Mobile Phones Project
LVCH
have launched a new scheme to help raise funds which would be of great benefit.
If you have an old mobile phone that you don't need anymore, instead of throwing
it in the bin or sticking it on E-bay, you can give it to us, even if it doesn't
work.
Two of our children, Ronnie and Andrew have now been given training to repair and refurbish mobile phones. We anticipate that collection point boxes will be placed in outlets such as shops and offices.
These phones are valuable in Uganda and are a great way for us to raise funds and also a means for supporters to keep in touch with the workers on the island. If you do want to donate your old mobile phone you can either drop it into Flaggs Estate agents (a supporter of LVCH) in Hemel Hempstead if you are local or you can post it to us at: LVCH C/O 51 Mercury Walk, Highfield, Hemel Hempstead, Herts, HP2 5PJ, England, UK.
You must however follow these simple instructions before sending us your phone:
Please make sure your phone is disconnected from your service provider
Please ensure all personal information has been removed from the phone
Please do not include the charger or cradle (it saves you and us postage costs)
Please ensure that you have removed the sim card prior to dispatch
Please only mail in a padded box or padded envelope to prevent damage
To receive a free wristband (subject to availability) please include your name and address
Please tell all your friends about our great new Phones 4 Orphans project
At the moment we are preparing drop boxes to be placed in shops and shopping centres for collections. We are also in talks with the Ugandan Customs to try to get import duty dropped so that we can save money.
As we have already successfully trained Ronnie and Andrew to repair mobile phones we need further funding to train more so that we can become more self sufficient in repairing and maintaining our own phones. We would also like to build our own workshop in a purpose built hut so funding is very much needed for that and we are very grateful for funding we have already received.
